Nuwara Eliya District parliamentarian S. P. Rajathurai, who resigned from the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) on August 8, yesterday joined the National Union of Workers (NUW) led by parliamentarian P. Thigambaram.

“I joined NUW yesterday as the party’s deputy leader. Later we held an election campaign in Hatton. It was attended by 6,000 supporters,” Rajathurai said.

The NUW is an ally of the UPFA Government.

Mr. Rajathurai was elected to parliament at the 2010 general election as a member of the CWC. (LSP)
