Four members of the same family were found burnt to death, allegedly in a suicide attempt in Polgasovita late last night. Another family member sustained serious injuries.
According to the police the father, two daughters and son were burnt to death and mother seriously injured when their house at Siyambalagoda in Polgasovita was set on fire by the father early this morning. The father had reportedly set fire to the house.
The two daughters and their brother were aged 18, 16, and 10 years of age respectively. It is alleged that a personal animosity resulted in the suicide. The injured woman was admitted to Kalubowila hospital in a critical condition.

This is one of the strangest 'suicide-pacts' I've ever come across! I am pretty sure that the children didn't want to die. Does the reporter of this news item know exactly whether this is was a multiple homicide + suicide or a suicide-pact?
