At least 224 remand prisoners sentenced to death at the Welikada prison launched a hunger strike this morning, urging authorities to release them under a common pardon or to carry out their death sentence.
Prison authorities have taken steps to ease the tense situation under the directions of Prisons Commissioner General Major General V.R De Silva.
“The prison officers are currently negotiating with them and trying to ease the situation as soon as possible”, a senior prison officer said. (SD)

Why Negociate they are asking they have been condemed to die, ( Innocent or guilty or framed ) only god knows.
They asking we die or live. To live release us or Die - Execute ro we Execute our self.
Why the World is so crual to people. Sentence them to die but also not allowing them to die.

let them die or change the prison sentence to three or life sentences so they will not enjoy the freedom!!
They cannot include in the common pardon as they are not petty theives or common criminals ,but murderes, gangasters and organised mobsteres
no way
common pardon , i do not agree with that, if you did the crime you Must Do the time!!

They can fast unto death. That way they can carry out the death sentence by themselves.

I'm not sure its the right time to judge 'Criminals' but, this goes to prove that They prefer to die than to stay in prison. Hence; execution of death sentance is NOT a punishment and keeping them prisoners rest of their lives is a better punishment.
