The wife and older sister of the slain notorious underworld gangster Prince Kolom were further remanded till January 16 for allegedly demanding ransom from a hotel owner in Kotahena.
Kotahena police had arrested the suspects following a complaint made by the owner of MNS Hotel at Bloemendhal Road Nagaiya Sasikan on December 26 alleging that two persons who came on a motor bike asked him to give Rs.100,000 to the sister of Prince Kolom at gunpoint.
Accordingly on December 27 the suspects had come to the hotel to collect the ransom and the officers of Bloemendhal Police Post arrested them and handed them over to the Kotahena Police. It was said that the hotel owner had taken the premises for a daily payment of Rs.500 to Prince Kolom. After the killing of Prince Kolom he had paid the money to Prince Kolom’s sister regularly. Later the money was paid to one Chaminda on the instructions of Prince Kolom’s sister. Chaminda had not come to collect the money for about a year.
On December 26 two persons who came on the motor bike had demanded money and threatened the hotel owner to give that money to Prince Kolom’s sister Janitha Sandya Kumari. (T. Farook Thajudeen)

Oh dear , they were not supporters of any body worthwhile in the establishment then. Good lesson to people who are planning to take this work, most important , first get close to somebody important.
