Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya told Daily Mirror Online that the Elections Department had begun preparations to hold the Northern Provincial Council elections in September although it was yet to receive an official confirmation regarding the holding of the election.
“It will be held in September. That is confirmed and now we are awaiting an official confirmation. We have now called for data on government officers to take up official duties for the election,” he said.
Spaking further, Deshapriya said as of now the status quo regarding the registered voters would remain unless there is legislation to effect change to include a new voter list. (Hafeel Farisz)
