Power cuts this week

Due to the ongoing excavations on the outer circular road of the Southern Expressway for the purpose of laying 200 watt transmission lines between Pannipitiya and Biyagama, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) says it had intended to impose two hour power cuts each day from September 12 to 24 -- in certain areas. But the rains and the floods had delayed the laying of the power lines. Therefore the CEB has now decided to impose the power cuts from September 24 to 29.

The areas affected will be Horana, Ambalangoda, Kalutara, Bandaragama, Sri Jayawardenapura, Homagama, Ratmalana and Dehiwala.

The length of the cuts may vary due to the vagaries of the weather and the power consumption, and may be less than two hours.

Further details will be provided in due course.

The Ceylon Electricity Board regrets the inconvenience caused.
