The Merseyside Police are appealing for the drivers of two vehicles to come forward as they may hold vital information about the murder of a 30-year-old Sri Lankan man.

Officers are keen to talk to the drivers, who may have seen the offender leave the scene of the murder, Stanley News, on Kingsway in Huyton.

The 30-year-old shop worker died as a result of a single stab wound to the neck during the incident at around 9pm on Tuesday, November 29.

Detectives have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time. They are particularly keen to trace the driver of a white Ford Transit Van that was seen travelling in the direction of Rupert Road at 9pm.

They would also like to talk to the driver of a dark coloured Vauxhall Astra that was seen to drive out of Crosswood Crescent and turn left into Kingsway at the same time. The car drove past the shop, stopped and reversed back stopping outside the scene.

Detective Superintendent Ian Kemble, who is leading the murder investigation, said: "I would like to appeal directly to these two drivers to come forward to the police.

"They may feel that they have not seen anything significant, but I would urge them to let us make that decision - they could hold information that proves vital to us finding the person responsible and putting them before the courts."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the enquiry team on 0151 777 6565, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. (Source:Juice Fm)
