Police training college OIC shot dead

Officer in-charge of the In-Service Police Training College Sabaragamuwa, Chief Inspector Indrasoma Rathnayake has been shot dead in Elapatha a short while ago, sources said.

Initial investigations revealed that the 57 year old Chief Inspector was shot due to a personal dispute revolving around a land issue.

One person has been arrested by the Rathnapura Police, together with a weapon suspected to be used for the murder, in connection to the incident.

The arrested suspected is said to be a retired banker aged 62 and has been admitted to the hospital under police custody due to a heart ailment, the Police said.( Hafeel Farisz& Sanath Desmond)
