Police have issued a red notice through Interpol for the arrest of the security director of a leading private hospital in Colombo.

He is reported to have fled to Singapore after knocking down a five-month pregnant woman at Gunesinghepura in Pettah last month.

The woman was killed on the spot in the tragedy which occurred on April 27. Preliminary investigations had revealed that the man who drove the vehicle was returning from a night club and might have been under the influence of liquor.

The accident involving a white jeep was recorded on CCTV cameras.

Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said the jeep was located after checking the registration numbers starting with KQ of some 545 jeeps. (Supun Dias and Sanath Desmond)

Mr. Rohana if you are so certain that the culprit has escaped to Singapore why not request the Singaporean government to arrest him and deport him to Sri Lanka. Instead of wasting time at press conferences. This clearly shows the inefficiency of the authorities in SL. via DM iPad app

Pedestrialns must be educated on their road behaviour. There is a clear lawlessness with regard to road traffic. While taking action against those offenders, this problem must be addressed.
