    what a patriot!!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:52 PM

Can you not remember MR, Dinesh G. & Co going and begging the EU to interfere in our internal matters afew years ago? Some have short memories indeed or are simply ignorant. If it were'nt for India & the International community our rulers will run riot. The later comment is applicable for the UNP as well.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:53 PM

that's what you UNP supporters wanted throughout last 4 years

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:53 PM

Jeffry, why didn't you come up with the idea 20 years back? were u having a good life during that time ha?

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:53 PM

why can't you get togeather with JVP and do a hartal show of streanth or do fast unto death like Delipan of LTTE to get international attention

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:56 PM

when it comes to GSP+ this and that is it too domestic ?? we go begging behind international donors and steal that too by MR and his pawla...there is nothing domestic in this world anymore....after JRJ introduced open economy. you need reality check mr. gamini.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:57 PM

Fonseka openly told the BBC that he will testify against Sri Lanka for war crimes and if UNP loves the country and it's soldiers should protest Fonseka the traitor

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:58 PM

Well said Jeffry. One can imagine the mindset of the followers by the shameless comments they make. Just think of those who back these ruthless rulers, though few have some academic qualifications their way of thinking is pathetic

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 01:02 PM

Put JVP into the front row of the protest. They are the main culprits behind this and they are the main team who spoil war hero into a dirty politician. Where is Mangala put him also and let Arjuna also to come and stand beside mangala.I hope Chandrika will also join this ???
Don't you think this is a master plan......

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 01:06 PM

whenever I see the comments majority is supporting SF. very very less government. this shows who would have won in the election.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 01:07 PM

    We will join tomorrow...

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:15 PM

We had to go to them for loans - so mind your tounge ???

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:15 PM

Looks like you dont no what you are talking about!! wake up!!!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:21 PM

The country is already distroyed because we have given political powers to idiots ??

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:27 PM

fellows like you deserve a leader like MR.... what a country!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:51 PM

Please make the protest as strong as possible. What the mahinda and the brothers have done is disgusting.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:31 PM

is there a law in sri lanka, did zou just woke up

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:38 PM

To all those who brag "country first", I would say "patriotism is the last resort of the scoundrel". Such brain-washed idiots are the biggest asset this government is having to win elections after elections.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 05:04 PM

JVP & UNP ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TRAGEDY! SORRY DEAR GENERAL, YOU FINALLY GOT INTO THEIR TRAP.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:32 PM

    Not enough ...

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:33 PM

"No one, is above the law"!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:38 PM

Let's see if the 40 lakh 'modayas' will join their 'yodayas' tommorow ... ha.. ha.. what fun, to watch this 'cartoon' ...

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:41 PM

    This is the time!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:42 PM

As Lankans, we shouldn't stay silent.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:52 PM

Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up ... - Abraham Lincoln.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:54 PM

Saddam Hussain, Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler and Nicolai Caecescu, all thought that they were going to hold power forever - we know of their fate!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:56 PM

Why not get together and bring back democracy, freedom & equality for all?

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:33 PM

talking against country is completely different from talking about human rights violations. The latter is a crime against humanity and whoever is found commiting such a crime must be stopped and tried for this crime. It is the worst kind of crime that one could be charged with and those found guilty are inhuman and mentally unstable.

    Wednesday, 10 February 2010 12:44 PM

How come? If a few have committed the worst crime in the book they should be tried and punnished. Why should the country as a whole suffer? It never happened in the case of Sadam, Pol Pot, and other crazies in the world, only the individuals are condemned. This idea about of one for all and all for one crap is a political slogan when they get themselves stuck in deep shit otherwise 'api wenuwen api'

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:28 PM

The international community knows the news. What can they do when the retired army general breaks the law of confidentiality. Is there any point going on the streets and protesting?

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 11:55 AM

That's what all you can do. Earlier SF talked against country now you can work against country

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 11:58 AM

Thousands of Sri Lankans who live in overseas are also with you, against this dictatorship, brutal leaders, time has come to unite all Sri Lankans.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:00 PM

MR did not eradicate the terrorism he planted a new one in South ! We had more peace five years back in south than now

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:01 PM

Do whatever you can do to protect democracy from idiotic, paranoid rulers

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:06 PM

None of the other governments have shown this kind of brutality against a defeated or any other person. MR is brutal. We thought his brutality is only for Prabhakaran. This brutality is for his survival. Every president's second term was not better than the first in SL. This guys's second term is going to be the worst.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:08 PM

If you index finger againt government will arrest you.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:08 PM

    good. please react very quicly.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:10 PM

Could not understand why these guys are just calling International community , International community can do nothing against Wrong doers , Only thing is will spoil the name of Mother Land and will reduce Tourist influx

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:13 PM

Poor UNP, people don't understand the sincerity of it...

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:19 PM

Protest is not enough! We need to see actions!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:19 PM

GENERAL FONSEKA, WE ARE ALWAYS WITH YOU, THE CRIMINALS MAY RUN BUT THEY CANNOT HIDE!!!!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:21 PM

What could the International community do ? It is a domestic affair. It should be resolved within the country.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:26 PM

Whatever happens at home they would run crying foul to the so called International Community, and who are they US and Europe. There are prominent lawyers in SL and a very fair judiciary system. Why not go to them and fight for justice if any injustice has been caused. Even JR and PREMADASA also would have done the same if they had confronted this person and with the evidence on hand to prosecute.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 11:52 AM

Save him before they kill him.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:29 PM

let us start a hunger strike from tomorw. we all are helpless to defend our right

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:31 PM

Any way you guys all are Duck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:31 PM

no person allowed to be against sri lanka as a country. Politician's personel agensda is not important for the public. Coutry is first before their politics, no excuse. All theese political idoots are trying to distroy our country' s image.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:33 PM

i knw dat its a pathetic situation but if we try to call IC for this they will turn their backs on us as remember dat we never wanted them to interfere in lanka's business while the war was going on???now they would laugh about it saying sort yourselves out

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:33 PM

Karu Jayasuriya, protest is not going to stop SF from evading the law. He has to be dealt as per the law of Sri Lanka. Running to the international community has to relevance and none of them could interfere with our internal affairs. Therefore dont waste time and money on protest for its of no use.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:36 PM

It is time that people need to stand up for injustice. The rate that people are been intiminated ,harresed & assaulted due to political difference it is realy pathetic.Good peace loving citizence has already started looking to move out from country
I am sure if the president did not address the situation immediatly. People will be diveded and country will be ruined.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:39 PM

    MR should know one thing.

more than 40 lakhs of people are against him.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:40 PM

SF's arrest demonstrate a typical Sinhalese mindset.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:43 PM

Dont make this as a political issue, if he is going to talk about war crimes itz gonna affect the whole country, So he must be punished!!!! put the country first not politics, these idiots donot understand this!!!

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:45 PM

General Fonseka was a national asset and he would have been a ideal ambassordor for the country in the global stage as a man who drafted a succesfull counter action plan against a deadly Ltte outfit. Rather than govt. using him to draft a "Sri Lankan version of sandharhust military college" by using the knowledge General has with him which would have brought immense economic benefits plus major image building exercise to this small island. They are going on a rampage.

I feel sorry for poor MR who is in a process of destroying his image.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:47 PM

Gamini when a dictator rules the country its the International community who should intervene. We are suffering due to the high cost of living and corruptions, still stupid comments are made in favour of this . If we keep quite then Only Rajapakshe rajawaru will rule the country for antother 30 years. May god save Srilanka.

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:48 PM

They can impose International sanctions towards SL .

    Tuesday, 09 February 2010 12:51 PM

Sad day in Sri Lanka's history. As if victory with 57% wasnt enough. My children can go to school today and I dont need to worry whether they will come home because of General Fonseka. How do we as a people show gratitude? We drag him from his house like a common pick pocket.
