According to a report received from the Australian government, no Sri Lankans were found so far onboard the boat which capsized off Australia last week, the External Affairs Ministry said.

The government had requested a full report from the Australian government regarding the ill fated boat earlier.

The Ministry said the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Australia was in touch with the Australian Coastguard and the Customs.

However, the Australian Government did not confirm the presence of any Sri Lankans onboard. (Chaturanga Pradeep-DM Online)
