Sri Lanka does not import crude oil from Iran since mid 2012 following the US sanctions, Minister of Petroleum industries, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said at the cabinet press briefing short while ago.
United States imposed an embargo on the import of oil from Iran In June 2011. An year later Sri Lanka imported 20% of the requirement of crude oil from Iran during the first six months of the year and 10% during the second six months.
Why? Because the only refinery we have can only handle Iranian Crude? Dont you think it is the same way we are still doing our development i.e. Coal Power Plant, Hambantota port, Mattala Airport. Ha Ha what a clownish country.

Sri Lanka was asked to reduce the oil import from Iran but not to stop importing completely from there. His statement looks very complicated for me now..
