No decision to extend school hours-MR

The government has not taken any decision to extend the school hours of government schools till 3 pm, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said a short while ago.

Addressing an event in Kandy the President said “certain parties are campaigning that the government is going to extend the school hours of government schools till 3 pm. That is not true. We have not taken any such decision.”

He however said that students of new schools that are to commence next year, can decide on this extension.

The President also charged these parties campaigned against the government during the war time as well. (Ajantha Kumara Agalakada)

    It is not the political parties who are to be blamed for this. It is his own Minister of Education who announced this in public.
