State hospitals continue to run short of essential drugs and medical equipment, the government has not made sufficient allocations in the budget to address this problem, the JVP said today

The JVp added that as a result, the doctors have been compelled to suspend surgeries on patients.

JVP member of the Western Provincial Council Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa told a news conference today that the Maharagama cancer hospital is in need of medical equipment for the treatment of cancer patients too.

“Today, the problem is all the more acute at the Homagama hospital,” he said. (KB)

Good health of a person generally reflects that he is beyond poverty state. With the same token, poor economic situation of a country affects the state hospitals first.

I am so happy the JVP found this out a hard way. But people will remember, it is they who ruined the country and its economy.

Rathu Sahodarayas have lost credibility in the eyes of the people to such an extent that nobody cares to listen and reckon even in circumstances where their utterances contain some semblance of truth!
