The report compiled by the committee investigating the incidents which led to the re-poll in Nawalapitiya was handed over to the President after his return from the SAARC summit, government sources told Daily Mirror online.

According to government sources, President Rajapakse had earlier informed the candidates that those found guilty over the Nawalapitiya election related incidents will not be given a post in his new cabinet.

Attorney-at-law W. Karunajeeva chairs the committee investigating the Nawalapitiya incident proceedings and other committee members include, lawyers Champani Padmasekara, Saliya Mathew, Chandra Fernando and Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa.

Eyewash committees- waste of time and money, we are aware of such committees and there outcome.

    Sunday, 02 May 2010 09:54 PM

Report was a waste of time and waste of public funds. After all, nothing happened. This is only a drama to show the public.

    Sunday, 02 May 2010 08:56 AM

    Much adieu about nothing!

    Sunday, 02 May 2010 07:48 AM

Go and see Nawalapitiya under Mahindananda, how developed the city was. Kandy city too should be given to him what ever the outcome of this report. He would do something good.

    Sunday, 02 May 2010 04:10 AM

Thomas, I agree. The worst culprit will be offered the best portfolio and the report will be thrown in the dustbin

    Sunday, 02 May 2010 02:08 AM

THE DEFINITION OF COMMITTEE ( IN THIS COUNTRY) IS EYE WASH OR FOOL THE PEOPLE.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 07:35 PM

Reports are only a public show, but the culprits will be rewarded in due course by the President. Fooling the sri lankan public is too easy and too cheap these days.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 07:20 PM

They will be given ministry portfolios for sure....

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 04:30 PM

    i agreed with you

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 08:48 AM

Nobody is guilty of anything: the allegations are just rumours.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 12:40 PM

    Nothing big things will happen.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 12:30 PM

Amazing how some cannot see the farce and the false drama. All accused will get their ministerial posts soon.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 11:39 AM

Oh yeah, we are also appreciate mervin getting the media ministry.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 10:56 AM

The Public who has the right to know will never know who was responsible to the Nawalapitiya incidents.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 10:38 AM

According to common law the one who violates law should be punished or penalised. So the cost of re-poll must be recovered from these errant politicians. If no recovery is made it will imply that general public has violted the law because the cost will be from the tax money paid by them.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 10:23 AM

We appreciate the stance of Pres. Rajapakse not to give any portfolio in his new Cabinet. Steps should be taken to recover the huge amount of money spent for the repoll from the culprits.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 09:29 AM

I wont be surprised if the commissioner of elections is the person found guilty. Now that the President and the UPFA are set for life they dont need Dayananda Dissanayake any more.

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 09:19 AM

Agree with you Calistus, that's why our Presidents ( past and present) put these reports into dustbins???. Hehehehe

    Saturday, 01 May 2010 09:04 AM

CULPRITS WILL NO BE PUNISHED FOR SURE
