President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to meet with the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad later today. The meeting is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The President arrived in New York yesterday and addressed the Global Millennium Development Goals Summit where he addressed the global audience on the findings of this report and on Sri Lanka’s position on the Millennium Development Goals.

More than 140 leaders including Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapkase met to review progress toward the targets. UN secretary general has said that the Millennium Development Goals can still be met if enough work is done.

The President is in New York to participate in the 65th Session of the UN General Assembly.
