Mrs SB's request is very simple
She is asking for Impartial inquiry
Why the govt can't give it
Govt preparing for collective suicide ?

Any investigation has to be carried out side Srilanka under an international panel. We cannot rely on locals as they are been terrorize by the government.
Arambewela Thursday, 27 December 2012 11:52 AM
Is responsibility of the left parties just to show their progressiveness to the people requesting MR to follow alternative way being in the government?
Whilst knowing the existing procedure in the constitution and making such a request is like washing their hands in front of people. Instead it is wise and practical if they suggest changing the present system for future use because future amendments are not applicable for present CJ.
balaraman Thursday, 27 December 2012 11:58 AM
Vasu! You have no alternative but to hang on giving up your princples.Disgraceful.
Siri Thursday, 27 December 2012 11:57 AM
How come when I rejected Sumanasiris comments, plus points increased from 50 to 52 and minus points increased from 6 to 7. News Paper Editors should know that the general public's are not fools!!
Motta Lokkah Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:03 PM
Agree totally..Even the swine will put to shame some of the shameless and gutter level individuals whose principals bring about a strong and decaying stench.
sarath Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:22 PM
President is very correct to say that present motion shall go under the existing procedure. it had been resorted by the UNP twice with no shame. there is no room for foreign involvement at any cost under the present law. under our constitution the sovereignty is inalienably. the Parliament cannot invite foreigners to decide the rights of Sri Lankan citizens
the biggest mistake was done by Mr Anura Bandaranayake when he was the Speaker without referring the matter to the SC for clarification. now it is too late. all are trying to shut the stable after horse has bolted.
s he took a different view in CJ Sarath Silvas issue.
Panikkiya Thursday, 27 December 2012 12:57 PM
One would always have afterthoughts and retrospective corrections - sure after the horse (and the mares and the donkeys) have bolted. Pardon me for my out of context blabber. "Due process" and adherence to the existing laws and bylaws and regulations. Yes - a process begun should reach its end. If the process is flowed, there are other processes to correct them.

what do you expect in a dictatorial regime?

SHYLOCK, the Merchant of Hambanthota. One kilo of flesh and nothing less but the end was nothing.

Banda Thursday, 27 December 2012 04:46 PM
Dear Leftists, instead of making statements you did you part, why not show you action by resigning from the government and then say you did your part
frank hilary Thursday, 27 December 2012 05:29 PM
If the Government admits the flaws in the present procedure for impeachment, then I think the CJ would have the right to successfully appeal against the decision and the Parliament will have to rectify the flaws and retry the CJ thereafter. Otherwise, it seems that justice would not be done to the CJ.
Siri Thursday, 27 December 2012 06:16 PM
"They have done their duty and can now go back to the perks of being a Ministers with a clear conscience!!" What a dishonest and shameful lot these so-called leftist ministers are. If they have any sense of shame or honour, they must resign when the injustice they have pointed out is rejected out of hand by the President.
kautilya Friday, 28 December 2012 03:19 AM
MR 's statement is similar to " MODAYAGE KADUWA"
Matalan Friday, 28 December 2012 05:26 AM
President is well aware that the old left leaders have no other option but to clutch the straw, his Govt. is. Principles, bourgeoisie revolution for the down-trodden, the weak and victims of injustice, the CJ is frankly down the river. As Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it".
kollotika Thursday, 27 December 2012 10:03 AM
shame on us to have leaders like this !
johan Thursday, 27 December 2012 08:07 AM
Policiless Politicians
Bandara Thursday, 27 December 2012 08:19 AM
Such promises to bring in comprehensive processes for impeachment are just like promises to abolish executive presidency. The country would definitely suffer from the flawed process followed.
Minister Thursday, 27 December 2012 08:32 AM
Now he can creep into his shell and pretend as if he did does not know anything. The best leftist (survival) policy. After all where and when can he enjoy such ministerial luxeries in his lifetime again!
SudhuPancha Thursday, 27 December 2012 08:49 AM
now they will say yes sir, yes sir, three bags full!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kd Thursday, 27 December 2012 09:00 AM
i wonder what happend to MR's "hardashakshi" conscious which he preached infront of Chartered Accountants that now had boomeranged on him for the 2nd time. But as long as our own "namika-sri lankans" sleeping on their comfort zone, MR can play his cards the way he want.....what trategic situation to a country
Calistus Jayatilleke Thursday, 27 December 2012 08:58 AM
So what next?: Just throw the principles and pride to the wind and vote for the impeachment because otherwise they will lose whatever benefits they now enjoy and will be thrown out for trying to be too smart. Surely, these few left-overs from the Old Left would not like to join the hoi-polloi and "saadukin pelenavun" on the streets.
