Amid continuing protests retired Supreme Court Judge Jagath Balapatabendi has been appointed as a one-man Special Presidential Commission to investigate the death of Ruhunu University student Susantha Bandara, president’s office said today.

The Commission has been entrusted to look into allegations leveled at those alleged to have been responsible for the death of the student.

Ruhunu students’ unions have continued to blame Susantha’s death on the police whom they alleged had brutally assaulted him.
