Motion to change Northern Governor passed



A motion calling the President to appoint a civilian as the Governor of the Northern Province had been passed in the Northern Province Council during its second sitting on Monday.

Kesavan Sayanthan brought forward the proposal calling the President to remove the present Governor Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) G.A.Chandrasiri from the post.
The proposal was seconded by Arumugam Ravikaran and the motion was passed.

The NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran and the Tamil National Alliance had been calling for a non-military person to the post since September. ( S. Jeganatahan, Kunasegaran Suren and S. K. Prasath)
