If in 1983 july was the black month of history, in 2013 , today will be the black september. a shame every citizen will have to bear. After all, if this charge(accusation) is to be carried out in law as per today's ruling...80% of us will be behind bars!
james bond Monday, 16 September 2013 09:43 AM

t.g.herath Monday, 16 September 2013 12:08 PM
you are mistaken.today's case was before the colombo magistrate.case before the commission is a different case
CHANDRAPALA Monday, 16 September 2013 12:59 PM
Though, thousand lawyers appeared she can't defend her self because, the country does not have a Independent Judicial Service Commission.
Thomas Monday, 16 September 2013 01:07 PM

Unbowed you remain steadfast. Hats off to you Iron lady, you are not alone in this there are millions behind you. Finally it is justice that will prevail.
The God Father Monday, 16 September 2013 01:47 PM
Oh my god , finally i see 100 lawyers who have hearts .........., may god bless them.
Don Sarath Monday, 16 September 2013 04:14 PM
All the lawyers appeared for CJ looks like those of UNP & JVP headed by the UNP stalwart Upul Jayasuriya. They are ones who are responsible for the plight the CJ is in today.
Though CJ knew her law, she had no wisdom to realize that these people were taking her for a ride, just for petty political gain at her expense.
Now it is too late for her
Jan Chandra Monday, 16 September 2013 09:29 AM
No body worries, internationally, about a CJ or anybody else in a tin pot country like Sri Lanka
Jagath Leanage Monday, 16 September 2013 05:08 PM
May the triple blessed you Mrs.Bandaranayake. We all know what made you to impeached. I think most of the people forget that. had you allowed DIVINEGUMA bill then you will be still C.J. God bless you madame.
Jagath Leanage Monday, 16 September 2013 05:25 PM
Iron lady of Sri Lanka.
common man Monday, 16 September 2013 05:33 PM

Brian Perera Monday, 16 September 2013 05:47 PM

Terrence Bde Silva Tuesday, 17 September 2013 01:27 AM
LAWYERS APPEARING FOR FORMER CJ "PRO BONO" MUST BE A GUINESS WORLD RECORD!
jay pathbey Tuesday, 17 September 2013 01:37 AM
Lawyers come next to used car salesmen in the order of honesty. They are plenty and only need 5 o'levels to get a degree. I am surprised there were only a hundred not a thousand.
Kandula Tuesday, 17 September 2013 04:20 AM
Seems she has been given wing by the UN rep who visited recently.
Nil Tuesday, 17 September 2013 07:44 AM
Some one needs to standup for this corruption and it needs to suttle otherwise they will kill you. So good luck save our country from oblivion.
Mason Monday, 16 September 2013 07:10 AM
It is heartening to see the support the ousted CJ commands. Good luck to you Madam and you lawyers.
Sonali Monday, 16 September 2013 05:43 AM
In my opinion she should have appeared before the commission. I can't say I don't like the judges so I won't show up!!
Brumby Aiya Monday, 16 September 2013 05:52 AM
Great showing by the lawyers. Now the heat is on, locally and internationally. The "stakes" will be not vibrating.
shitake mushrooms Monday, 16 September 2013 06:03 AM
The witch hunt continues.
No Hope Monday, 16 September 2013 06:26 AM
Lawyers are the great culprits of this country. We know the level of their eduction consider all the politicians in parliament (useless buggers) even kings elder son also a lawyer.
I think number is not a reason and if you hammer the nail correct one is enough.(one is better than hundred fools)
Brumpy Aiya Monday, 16 September 2013 06:31 AM
Do not worry Madam. We all know that "Pillay Nona" too is following this mad circus.
C SENEVERATNE Monday, 16 September 2013 06:35 AM
Fight to the last and teach them a lesson.
Court Observer Monday, 16 September 2013 06:36 AM
She was prepared to appear, but the commission had NOT responded to her preliminary objections!
citizenJ Monday, 16 September 2013 06:40 AM
Corruption breeds corruption, Former CJ and the cohorts surrounding her proves it.
Nihal Monday, 16 September 2013 06:51 AM
If the verdict is pre-written evn 1000s appeared may not be any use
gerard Monday, 16 September 2013 07:07 AM

dIREsTRAITS Monday, 16 September 2013 05:42 AM

raviraj Monday, 16 September 2013 07:29 AM
so her lawyers are indirectly admitting that she is guilty. It is not the quantum of fine but establishment of the guilt/crime that is important.
Renu Monday, 16 September 2013 07:35 AM
Great show of thew lawyers for the injustice mented out to her by the government
Grace Monday, 16 September 2013 07:38 AM

God save Law and Justice.
VoiceOfLanka Monday, 16 September 2013 08:29 AM
This is nothing but a circus, designed and orchestrated by some 'basic' people to harass the CJ for not heeding to their whims and standing her ground..
Perumal Monday, 16 September 2013 08:38 AM
Sonali, the reason for not appearing is deeper than that. Perhaps you might have a liking for those judges.
fazlyfazly Monday, 16 September 2013 09:10 AM
the magistrate should have dismissed the case in the first instance.
