The High Court Judge Ms. Deepali Wijesundera today refused to agree to a request to release the Venerable Uvatenna Sumana on bail as he was arrested under the Emergency Regulations.
The Attorney General had earlier indicted the Venerable Uvatenna Sumana thero and four others before the High Court of Colombo for committing offences under the Emergency Regulations and Offensive weapons Act.
The Attorney General by his indictment complained that the suspect, Venerable Uvatenna Sumana had retained 50 hand grenades, two T56 assault Rifles and 210 live bullets in his possession by violating the Emergency regulations and Offensive Weapons Act. (TFT)

If he actually had such weapons in the temple with his knowledge, he must be punished. If not, the people who organised the charges and those who ordered must be struck down by lightning.
