Expelled UNP Provincial Councilors Maithree Gunarathne and Shiral Lakthilake filed action in the Court of Appeal against their expulsion from the UNP yesterday.

“We were not given a fair hearing and it was a violation of natural justice and a violation of the UNP’s Constitution. We filed action on this premise,” Gunarathne said.

Gunarathne said that the two councilors have no intention of joining the government and would continue to work for reforms within the UNP.
