Mahinda accepts ‘people’s victory’

President Mahinda Rajapakse accepted the results of his sweeping win at the presidential elections saying that it was an excellent victory and one that reflected the choice of the people.

Speaking to reporters a short while ago the President said that the results of the polls had proven that the people had an awareness of the democratic process and said that the people could now come together to build the country.

President Mahinda Rajapakse added that it was now clear that the people of Sri Lanka were all equal and that he was now the president of the whole of Sri Lanka including those that had not voted for him.  (RR)
