According to police sources, on a tip-off from a bank official that one Sanjeev Kanth was trying to purchase a laptop and computer accessories by using a fake credit card at a shop in Egmore, a special team of the CCB arrested the accused. He was in possession of three fake credit cards.

A search on his house at Alapakkam revealed 110 fake debit-cum-ATM cards and seven more fake credit cards.
