A Sri Lankan residing in Uganda was among the 74 killed in the twin bombings that occurred in Uganda last Sunday, a spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry told Daily Mirror online.

Ramarajah Krishna Rajah went out with a friend to watch the World Cup final on the fateful night. The managing director of Imperial Group of Companies, Villupellai Kananathan, a senior member of the Sri-Lankan community, said the body was discovered at Mulago Hospital on Monday.

One of Rajah’s children attends university, and the second is in high school in Sri-Lanka.

“The family was shocked when I broke the news, they could not take it. They are yet to give us instructions for the funeral,” Kananathan said.

The bombing which occurred in two sites during the FIFA World Cup finals claimed the lives of 74 people including several foreigners of Ethiopian, Indian and Congolese nationality.

An al-Qaeda-linked Somali militant group has claimed responsibility for the twin blasts. Ugandan government spokesman Fred Opolot said Monday there were indications that two suicide bombers took part in the late Sunday attacks, which left dozens wounded. (Daily Mirror online)
