Sri Lanka has offered India its expertise in defeating the LTTE to help fight the Naxals. Sri Lanka has said its armed forces could train Indian paramilitary personnel to successfully fight the Naxals. Authorities must act cautiously and prudently in offering support openly as Sri Lanka can draw new enimies from foreign lands who can resort to terrorist attacks against our interests/persons at a time we are just settling down to concentrate on our neglected development activities in order to bring relief to suffering people.

During the last years of the war, the LTTE had a very depleted force numbering less than 2500 due to poor recruitment and injuries, arms and ammunition was absolutely impossible to find due to countries clamping on terrorism after 9-11 and further more Karuna squealed. In comparison the GOSL had state support from India and China to improve and increase weaponry while many other countries provided tacit support while increasing its armed forces to more than 350,000.
