The case filed by the CID against Sri Lanka Mirror accusing the website to have contained defamatory items against the President and the State was laid by today.

However, Additional Magistrate Prasanna De Alwis ordered the suspects to appear before court if they receive notice.

When the case was taken up for inquiry CID Inspector Anura Silva informed the court that the Colombo University has the facility to store the hard disks that were recovered from the computers  taken into custody from the Lanka Mirror Website, safely.

Counsel Upul Kumarapperuma appearing for the suspects moved to hand over the computers to the first suspect after removing the hard disks from them.

The Magistrate ordered the CID to make prior arrangements with the first suspect to hand over the computers to the owners after removing hard disks. He also ordered the suspects to make statements to the CID.(FT)
