Landmine blast in Muhamalai; one killed

One person was killed and two others injured in a landmine explosion in uncleared minefield in Muhamalai, Jaffna, this afternoon, sources said.

The victims are reported to have been traveling on a tractor into the minefield disregarding the warning signs to cut firewood when the landmine exploded.

The body of the victim is currently at the Palai hospital and the two 17-year-old boys are treated at the Kilinochchi Base Hospital, they said.
