The Colombo Fort Magistrate today gave a court order to disperse a protest by the employees the Lakehouse group.

The protest was led by five trade union leaders in front of the main gate of the Lakehouse building. They were carrying slogans against the President as well as the company.

The police requested the court order on the grounds that the protest was disturbing the peace as well as incurring a loss to the company. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

The order to disperse the protest has apparently been granted on the ground of causing a loss to the company. Have anyone heard of trade union action for their rights generating profits to a company?

Protesters appear to be in fashion these days, most of whom being led as herds of bufflos by the JVP leaders, do not actually know why they proteset. The Police, notwithstanding the protests of the protesting leaders, must be very stenr on unreasonable protesters. Arrest them, assult them if they cotinue to be stubborn.and prosecute in Courts, which must see to it that the strongest punishment is meted.Unless you nip these hooligans in the bud,we innocent civiliansh having no intrest in these affair suffer.
