STF security for SAARC Summit

A joint security plan involving the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Sri Lanka's Special Task Force (STF) has been placed in and around the SAARC summit venue in Addu.

A senior official attached to the STF contingent, which is currently providing security for the summit, said that both agencies are working closely to ensure the safety of the delegates and the venue.

"All delegates attending the SAARC summit are being considered as high priority. We have conducted several joint threat assessments with the MNDF and have mapped out a foolproof security plan," he said.

"Everyone entering and leaving the venue has been monitored and security screening has also been done on those working at the venue and in close proximity to the venue," he said.

Haveeru previously revealed that STF personnel conducted several training programmes in Colombo prior to the summit in providing security to the dock, airport, and the conference hall. (Source: Haveeru Online)
