A A A

The fire that erupted in a warehouse at Colombo port recently was due to an undeclared inflammable chemical, the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) said today.

The company that imported the inflammable chemicals had concealed the true nature of their goods by way of convincing the authority that the goods were not dangerous cargo.

The authority said it had decided to take legal action against the company. (Lahiru Pothmulla-DM Online and Benislos Thushan)(Pix by PradeepPathirana)

Difficult to believe. Ship do not take on board inflammable items. it is more dangerous that having it aboard than in a wear house. I thing the cargo is fish(y).
