Indian Defence Secretary here



Indian Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar arrived in the island early this morning with a seven member delegation to hold bi-lateral talks with Lankan officials, according to the Media Centre for National Security.

“He arrived early this morning and will be here for three days holding talks with various officials related to the fields of Defence,” Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Lakshman Hullugalle told the Daily Mirror.

A Defence dialog between the two countries is also to take place during Kumar’s visit.
The dialog is expected to improve relations and cooperation pertaining to Defence between the two countries. The establishment of what is to be an annual dialog was discussed during a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa in June, this year.

As a result of the meeting a programme has been launched to improve Defence relations to benefit both countries. (D.S)
