A group of Indians and Nepalese arrested in Sri Lanka for staying in the country illegally are to be deported following a Court order, the police central crimes division told Daily Mirror online. The 28 Indians and 3 Nepalese are being held at a detention center in Mirihana.

Meanwhile the police central crimes division added that it is on the lookout for the Sri Lankan agent involved in the racket to bring down Indians and other South Asians to Sri Lanka using false documents with the intention of sending them to Dubai for employment.

The Indian and Nepalese were residing at a lodge located in Pettah and had come to Sri Lanka after they had been given an assurance by an agent in India that they could proceed to Dubai from Sri Lanka to seek employment.

The police central crimes division added that some 400 foreigners, with false documents, are believed to be hiding in various parts of Sri Lanka waiting for their turn to depart to Dubai and other countries for employment. (Daily Mirror online)
