The opposition UNP today charged that the decision by some leading Indian actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai to skip the IIFA awards in Colombo had created a bad image for Sri Lanka

UNP Colombo District MP Rosy Senanayake also said that the government had failed to get the maximum benefits out of Indian International Film Festival. (YP)

Playing with a B team is better than not playing.
Holding IIFA here in Colombo is a good move taken by the government to show the world that Sri Lanka is now a safe place to travel.
Rather than criticizing every move of the government, the oppositions should also learn how to appreciate good moves.

I totally agree! These shameful UNP losers are playing right into the hands of the Tamil terrorists. Also, Amithab Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai (knowingly or not) have played right into the hands of the terrorist diaspora. Just read the article yesterday by TimesOnLine (Jeremy Page) about the boycott, the comments below the article shows the hatred of the diaspora Tamils against Sri Lanka.

I am a UNP supporter Rosy but this is not the fault of the government its the leading actors cowardness and self concern that is behind this, not to mension the event is doing up a massive project for the displaced in the war torn area, atleast if these fools got their heads around and stood up for whats right the mainly tamil people would have been grateful for them, for me this shows who they really are and it aint the brave and kind hearted ppl on tv.. for me these people are the loses, not Sri Lanka!!

Read between the lines - she doesn't want to make a direct attack on the government but very carefully and sarcastically pointing fingers at the government instead of condemning the Indian stars who stayed away from this event.
