Expressing concern over some of the displaced Tamil civilians still being lodged in camps in Sri Lanka , Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said India has taken up the matter with Sri Lanka so that they are moved out of the camps at the earliest.
In her reply to a letter written by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on the issue, Gandhi said the Indian government was extending whatever humanitarian and resettlement assistance possible to alleviate hardships faced by the displaced Tamil civilians.
The issue of resettlement and rehabilitation as well as reconstruction process in the war ravaged areas had been taken up at an appropriate level in Sri Lanka so that the civilians would be able to move out of the camps at the earliest, she said in the letter.
spark, you should not let down the standard of our country to zero! we refuse to accept yours facts, however true it is, it demoralises our remaining guts.

Sue Tuesday, 09 November 2010 01:11 PM
Sure we have the guts and told so many countries to mind their own busines. But see where it has landed us. Having guts is one thing; being stupid is definitely something else.
spark Tuesday, 09 November 2010 11:43 AM
Part of the guts is sold to China and the rest to Burma, Iran, Russia and Pakistan. We independently do not have anything called guts, unless one of those countries mentioned allow us to.

Phil, thanks. Hope Sonia is not trying to get political millage out of this. Her mother- in law created this problem and as a result thousands of innocent civilians died,Sinhala and Tamil. If she can mind her own biz. it s a great help.

Let us stop listining to India any more. We should take care of our business the way we want with the help of those we like the most(China, Japan, etc.).
Jumbuli Jumba Tuesday, 09 November 2010 10:51 AM
Our soldiers are still being kept busy removing mines from the uncleared areas. Also, still LTTE weapons being discovered mostly in uncleared areas. So, how can we expect to settle civilians in such an environment in mighty hurry?

Madam Sonia Gandhi, I wonder whether your language is understood by our leaders, as we are far below Indian standard of understanding democracy.

Very good, why don't you sinhalese start boycotting indian 3-wheelers, wearing the saree and saring, getting into ashok leyland buses, eating indian based food like dhall curry, string hoppers, pittu, boycott Buddhism and start praying to MR or his brothers or even SF...start somewhere without talking like a buffoon.

MADAME SONIA GHANDI - I SUPPOSE YOU MEAN IMMEDIATELY RELOCATING THE DISPLACED SRI LANKAN TAMILS IN THE BURNT OUT REFUGEE CAMP IN TAMIL NADU - WE WILL BE EVER SO GRATEFUL AND SO WILL THESE HAPLESS REFUGEE FAMILIES.

We should have the guts to tell India to mind their own business. To do so however,, the IDP problem must be settled soon.
Phil Tuesday, 09 November 2010 11:42 AM
Sonia, we know how it hurts when some one dear and so close to the heart is killed. I am not interested in finding out what the motive was or who the assassin. A precious life is taken away. With the same token you need to understand how the Tamils were hurt when the IPKF killed more than 2000 of them. Some of those killed were doctors, nurses and the patients. They were shot dead inside the Jaffna General Hospital by the IPKF. The past is history, only useful to academics, for they mint money out of it.
Nevertheless, don't you think you are late in your inattentive to re-settle the Tamils in their own land?.
It is better late than never. God Bless you, Sonia. Human tendency is that, people forget their sorrows over a period of time. Politicians are not exceptional.
bogsam Tuesday, 09 November 2010 11:42 AM
Oi Sparky, string hoppers have nothing to do with India. From which planet did you fall off?
kay Tuesday, 09 November 2010 11:43 AM
Mr.Silva why not return to your country of origin. You are neither a srilankan nor a Buddhist.
