Gankanda granted bail

UNP MP Dunesh Gankanda was granted bail a short while ago by the Colombo Fort magistrates court.Gankanda was released on a Rs. 30,000 cash bail with two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each. The lawyers appearing for Gankanda argued that under section 216 of the penal code the offence was a bailable one.
The next hearing is set for the 23rd of August. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Courts will not ever get a chance to grant bail to Duminda or Sudharman. That's how our system works.
