Freeze on Dhanuna’s accounts

The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered the managers of two banks to freeze seven bank accounts belonging to Dhanuna Tillekaratne, the son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka in line with the written proclamation on the absconding suspect.

When the matter pertaining to the controversial HiCorp deal was taken up for hearing today, the CID presented a report of assets belongs to the second suspect Dhanuna Tillekaratne.

Accordingly, the CID told Court that Rs.15 million and US$ 1251 had been deposited by the suspect at seven bank accounts. The CID further informed Court that other property belonging to Dhanuna had not been recovered and informed they were conducting further investigations.

Meanwhile, a warrant in English was issued for the arrest of Tillekaratne by the Magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratne in order to obtain Interpol assistance to arrest him.
