The French Embassy in Colombo affirmed that France will never support any form of terrorism and confirmed that the French Postal Service ‘La Poste’ has apologised to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Paris for issuing pro-LTTE stamps.
“France strongly condemns all forms of terrorism throughout the world and the French government could in no way have supported an initiative aiming at backing the LTTE, a movement which has been listed since 2006 as a terrorist organisation by the European Union,” French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Christine Robichon told the Daily Mirror today.
“I can also confirm that ‘La Poste’ has apologised to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Paris for their error,” Robichon said. (Ayesha Zuhair)

The French government must clearly state what action it will take to remove the stamps from circulation and explain how it was issued in the first place without consideration for what it contained and elaborate in detail the process by which LaPoste decides on issuing a new stamp, if indeed that country "does not support terrorism". Helping to kill 60000 Libyan civilians in 3 months in order to get its oil is also "terrorism" of the highest order, by the way...
