Opposition Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka, speaking to reporters a short while ago, claimed there was a “list” put out by the government with names of opposition supporters who are to be targeted for their support to the General. He claimed that this “list” was now circulating via email.

He said that an ex-army major who was part of his political campaign was threatened, the Venerable Dambara Amila thero was arrested just days after he extended support to the General and several others are now next on the “list”

The General also said that the government has now begun a mud slinging campaign against him by making allegations over his military career.

Fonseka further said that he had asked SLFP (M) wing leader Mangala Samaraweera to be his campaign manager but so far Mr. Samaraweera has not accepted.
