Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana former aide of General Fonseka who was arrested with four other Army high rankers for allegedly conspiring to over throw the government was granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today. The Magistrate ordered the suspect to appear before the Terrorist Investigation Division every Sunday morning. The passport of the suspect was impounded.
Major General Upali Edirisinghe, Major General Sunil Silva, Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana, Captain Senaka Silva and Ruwan Abeykoon were arrested by the TID just after the conclusion of the Presidential Election in January, for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the government. Investigations are being conducted after they were detained by the TID Under Section 21 (b) of the Emergency Regulations.

If someone is to be arrested, there should be evidence against them. Everyone is innocent until they are proven guilty. That is the Law of every decent country.

Mind you, it is too early to come to a conclusion. He was only granted bail but not acquitted. Even murder suspects get bails before they are punished after hearing before the court of law.
