The European Parliament Thursday evening passed a resolution calling on the Sri Lankan government to implement the recommendation of the Reconciliation Committee in full.

The EP appreciates the restoration of peace and welcome the first ever elections in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. However, it notes with concern that "the presence of government military forces in the former conflict areas remains considerable" and that there are continuing reports of intimidation and human rights violations.

Shall we get arms and ammunition instead just in case the LTTE try to raise their head again?

    Nodrog Saturday, 14 December 2013 01:12 AM

Let them visit and see the work that has been carried out. Then they will know the lies that the LTTE proxies have been spreading. Only those with personal agendas will not acknowledge the work carried out so far but these are just a few corrupt officials greedy for the diaspora votes.

Muslims should ensure their silent be peaceful. There were Muslim helped this country during war (Present and during kings time ) - They establish business culture . There leading Officers who sacrificed their life During war - Col Mutalif , Col Fazli lafeer - the father of the Special Forces and Col Phakeer , and Col Omr all died in action these a few. Did Gotabaya acknowledge them ?. He Called Muslims are extremist They turn the gun toward Muslim.Sri Lankan Muslims are the peaceful Muslim in the world comparing to rest of the world. Please remind me why we need to be even bothered when they pass resolutions on SL, its not a new thing, soon they will pass a resolution calling Sri Lanka by a different name, this is World Politics and we are not afraid , EU USA anyone do what you can... Sri Lanka will never be divided, and resolutions passed like such are not valid towards a sovereign state

    sobers Friday, 13 December 2013 11:38 AM

weather it is Tamil,Sinhalese, Burgers, Muslims or any other community, everyone wants to live in peace and dignity. No one can take law into their own hands. Press freedom should be available. if some one is killed, missing or harassed it is the duty of the state to report and investigate. Police should be neutral .Remember until a person is proved to be wrong, he remains as a suspect. If we are able to put these basic things in order, then no one can interfere with us.
