The CID had informed the court today that former Minister and National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa has also altered his original date of birth.

Though he was born on March 7, 1965, he had changed it to March 7, 1970 as his date of birth, the Police said.

His wife, Shashi Weerawansa was yesterday arrested on charges of changing her date of birth as well. Mrs. Weerawansa is said to have altered her DoB by four years.

CID officials said that the couple had done this with the intention of including it into their children’s birth certificates. (Manopriya Gunasekara)

Why do people resort to a fraud and apply for a different passport with a changed name and changed date of birth?Normally if a western country (USA, UK, EU etc) has refused a visa, they put a stamp on the passport that Visa refused, and normally one cannot apply again fo a visa for that country. Why not check from US, UK, EU embassies to see if any visa has been refused on the old passport?

Why???? Is there something wrong with these people! If dates of birth are changed, then surely they must be trying to deceive someone. The biological clock, however, cannot be adjusted to suit the whims of mortals.
