Island wide raids against drugs were carried out successfully and more than 11690 individuals have been arrested while possessing heroin, babul and cannabis in these raids since October 13th, DIG Sisira Mendis, Director of the Police Narcotic Bureau told Daily Mirror
He added that 4 kgs of heroin, 7400 kgs of cannabis and 1680 kgs of babul were recovered by the police during this time period.
The police will continue these raids in its initiative to curb the spread of drugs and drug abuse in the country, DIG Mendis said. (S.D)

Very nice thing to hear. If the autorities could maintain this operation for the next 2-3 years without giving up, then surely we can hope for a better future for our children. Wellampitiya area is infested with drug dealers and users as well. I know there's a small boutique selling Ganja in Weley-watte and even the thre- wheel guys knows about it. Wish the authorities bust this sale point too.
