how unfair to the other kids!! this stupid system of scholarship should be scrapped out from the educational system in the 1st place!!

    Buwa Thursday, 03 October 2013 06:25 PM

totally agree. it's every kid's dream come true when they see Disney Land. Whatever the motivation for the minister, if the child gets some extra reward for it -so be it! He's the one who studied and sat for the test. He deserves it. Good for him!

    rasa Thursday, 03 October 2013 09:31 AM

This is a sweet thought by the Minister. Congratulations.

srilankan boy Thursday, 03 October 2013 08:35 AM

Foolish minister. Never read news papers. Now US govenment is shut down. No visa services. How he is going to keep the promise.

    LankanFellow Thursday, 03 October 2013 08:30 AM

The best action is to do something for the school development where he's in. The boy will be proud of it and fellow students to respect and take him as an example.

    Rationalist Thursday, 03 October 2013 07:54 AM

Another instance of false example, set before this intelligent Boy. Is the Artificial American way of life in Disneyland, considered the ultimate in World Civilisation and Culture, by the SL Department of Education? SAD!!!

Anura Gunawardane Thursday, 03 October 2013 07:52 AM

Please spent this money for their Studies, probably in future one of them will buy the Disneyland as a Sri Lankan.

    kaputakukula Thursday, 03 October 2013 07:23 AM

This kid is a "blessing" for others, perhaps the ministry related guys as disguised 'accompaniment'. What do you say?

    wsef Thursday, 03 October 2013 07:15 AM

I am neither for or against the offer.

But should not the Department of Education do a survey to see how successful had been the scholarship recipients and also those who topped the exams in their later life.

    Saliya Thursday, 03 October 2013 06:01 AM

Mr. Sniper, Please don't suggest to stop the scholarship system. It is the only path for poor students to get a school with better facilities. Don't try to limit the good National schools to rich, influential families. This system is needed to reduce the "Social injustice" to poor families.

    Minister Thursday, 03 October 2013 05:24 AM

I am the Minister telling the people outside the School

    Promise - Ignore these Promises.

have any Politician Kept his Promise

    Anura Thursday, 03 October 2013 04:18 AM

Very true..... that is end of this little boy's education!

    Lannister Thursday, 03 October 2013 04:11 AM

Ah yes he can meet his 'other needs' while in university

    pasel Thursday, 03 October 2013 12:07 AM

    kid and his family ;
    how many from the ministry?
    what about the other
    Provincial Council students?

    Citizen L Thursday, 03 October 2013 04:06 AM

Why don't you people stop being prudes and let this little boy have fun. Honestly did you people have no childhood?

Kay Parker Thursday, 03 October 2013 03:48 AM

why don't they spend the money in his education and develop the schools . Ministry has no money for LAB equipment, these people are just wasting public

    Anton Thursday, 03 October 2013 03:10 AM

why don't you give him a fully paid scholarship to the best medical school in the world instead of this

Punny Pellow Thursday, 03 October 2013 02:25 AM

Just the kind of idea (Eureka!!) our EDUCATED MINISTERS get!!

Suren Sarathkumara Thursday, 03 October 2013 02:04 AM

5 kids, 2 parents, 8 GOSL representatives, 4 secretaries, 9 additional secretaries, 12 personal secretaries.

By the way who wants to leave their kids with PS members? Lol

    ANTON Thursday, 03 October 2013 02:03 AM

YES , THEY CAN SEND THE OTHERS TO COLOMBO DOCKLAND TO OBSERVE MALPRACTICES OF OUR OWN PEOPLE.

    Duminda N Jayatileke Thursday, 03 October 2013 01:40 AM

Dont think they will come back to SL after seeing the US for the first time.

    raspi Thursday, 03 October 2013 01:37 AM

LOL asking him to watch one of the state tv channels :P

    Justice Thursday, 03 October 2013 12:34 AM

Give him a break guys. Do not spoil this kid as early as his age. Why don't you ensure that he has a solid base to fulfill his educational career until he graduates? The cost of tickets and all other expenses will suffice to get him through University and beyond.....

    dIREsTRAITS Thursday, 03 October 2013 12:25 AM

How is that going to help? There is plenty of historical places in SL and will be a useful adventure. Do something that will enhance his/her prospects for the future. Even a good computer and suits of educational software as gift would make sense. Disney Land idea says a lot about the state of mind of our leaders. All are living in cockoo land.

    Justice Thursday, 03 October 2013 12:23 AM

Please don't spoil the kid. Why don't you ensure that his educational needs are met until he graduates?
