Wildwine Thursday, 26 March 2015 05:51 PM
"Dubai where money is unlimited" BTW did you check their DEBT/GDP ratio, it is way over 100%. Can you also suggest from which part of Colombo coastal belt can we survey 230 acres? You may not like to admit, but this is the kind of project that takes Sri Lanka to next level of Development. Getting a USD 1.5B investment is not an easy thing; but stopping it is very easy.
antiBuffaloa Thursday, 26 March 2015 06:27 PM
@BuffaloaCitizengo and learn what an investment means. This money does not come from the treasury of the GOSL. But from China.
Sumana Thursday, 26 March 2015 06:49 PM

Pottaya Thursday, 26 March 2015 09:00 PM
Buffalo, There is no Sri Lankan funds invested in this project. All money comes from the company that is building it and they get some portion of the land in return.
pubudu Thursday, 26 March 2015 09:31 PM

Buddy, sounds very familiar, except that you forgot to mention that Singapore is one of the LEAST corrupt countries in the world, starting from LKY.
Lakshman De Silva Friday, 27 March 2015 08:21 AM
President sirisena was also a part of the Government that approved this project. Sirisena used this project to come to power by criticizing and now he is back with China
BuffaloaCitizen Friday, 27 March 2015 10:38 AM
Did u hear of Lee Kuan Yew chartering an aircraft to go to Jamaica with his hangers-on to watch cricket finals? Did Lee Kuan Yew ever take 160 hangers on for an official visit to a country? Did Lee Kuan Yew ever build egoistic mega projects out of public money that are total bankrupt ideas?
Lasith Friday, 27 March 2015 11:29 AM
Sri Lanka was never the Wonder of Asia... always being the Laughing stock of Asia.... so there is nothing to graduate.

If it is so, then poor or rich living close to the sea or sea-beaches will witness disasters soon. This is sure and not a joke.
BuffaloaCitizen Thursday, 26 March 2015 04:55 PM
SL is not a country such as Singapore or Maldives where land is limited nor is it Dubai where money is unlimited where they can create a mass land equal to Sri Lanka. Spending public money on reclaiming 230 hectacres of sea is a utter crime when such land can be surveyed and obtained inland adjoining the sea. This shows the level of extravagant and horrific abuse by no other than President Rajapakse. This port city could have been constructed at 1/3 the cost elsewhere inland by the sea.
devin Thursday, 26 March 2015 04:52 PM
@Sumana. so you dont care about the environment or the fishermen of this country?

LKY Thursday, 26 March 2015 03:44 PM
Lee Kuan Yew died recently. He was instrumental in building Singapore to what it was today. His family is still in power. Does this sound familiar ?
Waco Thursday, 26 March 2015 03:28 PM
Very good news. China is our best friend, I reiterate. Their support is extremely important for Sri Lanka to face day to day problems. We must be with them openly. Our none-alined policy is not going to take us any where.
chami Thursday, 26 March 2015 03:17 PM
as far as SL development is concerned this better continue cause no one pumps $ to this soil without any profits in this case China is same but what benefits SL get cannot count at narrow.
Giabao Thursday, 26 March 2015 03:15 PM
Sri Lanka is going to graduate from being "Wonder of Asia" to the "Laughing stock of Asia".
