Britisher fined and deported

The Britisher who had been charged with non-payment of a hotel bill in Colombo was today ordered to be deported and fined Rs.50,000 after he pleaded guilty for overstaying his visa in the country.

The accused was arrested by the Kollupitiya police while allegedly behaving in a suspicious manner near the Kollupitiya junction. When police asked him to produce his passport or a valid document of identification he had failed to do so. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

    Fined and deported. It's a joke. Our law is lenient for sudda you should have locked him behind bars like other countries.Rs. 50.000 is peanuts for them..Still we are bow down to Sudda like colonial days. No wonder these crooks come as travellers and doing all these notorious activities.
