Beauty doctor granted bail

Dr. Nimal Gamage, who was remanded in connection with the death of a lady doctor while she was undergoing cosmetic surgery, was released on strict bail conditions by Colombo Additional Magistrate A. M. Sahabdeen today.

He was released on a Rs.50,000 cash bail with two sureties of Rs.500,000 each. The Magistrate said the sureties should be close relations of the suspect.

The suspect was ordered to report to the Bambalapitiya Police Station on the first Sunday of every month between 11.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.

The suspect’s passport was impounded and he was warned not to interfere with the investigations being conducted by the National Drugs Authority and Specialist Doctors. (TFT)

    This doctor is not a cold blooded murderer. He was not doing any harm unbeknownst to the victim. Very unfortunately he did the wrong thing in the wrong place. I believe this case should be treated more leniently as of an industrial accident.
