The depression in the Bay of Bengal will result in heavy rains in several parts of Sri Lanka, the Meteorology Department said today.

Duty meteorologist Channa Rodrigo said the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Eastern Provinces were likely to be effected.

The met department warned people to be alert to thunderstorms, lightning and gale force winds that would accompany the heavy rains.(DS)
