36 asylum seekers caught in Ragama

36 people including two supporters were taken into custody from an illegal Lodge in the Kurukulawa police area in Ragama while they were getting ready to flee to seek illegal asylum last night, police said.

Twenty-one men, three women and ten children were among the suspects and they were residents from Jaffna.

The suspects are to be produced before the Mahara Magistrate’s court today, police said.
