Military spokesman Brigadier Nihal Hapuarachchi said that 200 soldiers were deployed to Dambulla to support the police to maintain law and order in the area.

The contingent consists of 75 soldiers from the Nawula Special Forces (SF) base, 100 from the Mechanised Transport Regiment base in Kekirawa and 50 from a base in Matale.

He also stated that troops have been sent to Bandarawela to maintain law and order. He said that 125 soldiers are in the area. “So far that is the only task we have been authorised to carry out,” he said. (Supun Dias)

Is the army going to transport the vegetables now?

The army needs to build a riot control squadron. Your guns are useless in controlling civilians!! what are going to do if the civilians start attacking property and/or you? are going to shoot them?

you need rough riot control to beat this vandalize and law breakers.
